Neurosurgery International will be well-represented at the 12th
World Congress of Neurosurgery in Sydney, Australia Sept. 16-20,
2001. Greg Foltz, Mike Bonham and Kerry Berg will promote our Doctor-to-Doctor
online consultation and physician exchange programs at Exhibition
Booth #647. Greg Foltz will also present a paper entitled "Doctor-to-Doctor
Internet Consultation in International Paediatric Neurosurgery".
An estimated 3,500 international neurosurgeons are expected to attend.
This will be outstanding opportunity to further expand our international
collaborations and is made possible by a generous gift from the
Berg Foundation.
Greg Foltz will be presenting a paper entitled "Neurosurgery
at the Internet Cafe: a World-Wide Network for Consultation and
Education" at the Society of British Neurological Surgeons
meeting in London this September.
Richard Hatfield, Greg Foltz, Roman Zoltowski, and Henry Marsh
delivered an operating microscope donated by the British Government
to our neurosurgical colleagues in Lviv, Ukraine. Pictures will
be posted soon on the international medical missions webpage.
A fact-finding visit to St. Petersburg is scheduled for late October
2001. Henry Marsh, Richard Hatfield and Greg Foltz will meet with
Dr. Dmitry Volokhotyuk and his pediatric neurosurgery colleagues
to discuss future collaboration with Neurosurgery International.
We now have fully functional Russian, Chinese and Ukrainian versions
of our website (thanks to Misha Gelfenbeyn and Andrij Myzak).
Neurosurgery International has been granted tax-exempt 501(c)(3)
as a National Heritage Foundation. Please see the Ways to Help page
for more information.
The Doctor to Doctor online consultation forum has received its
first cases from Albania, Bosnia, India and China. We welcome Drs.
Fatos Olldashi, Kemal Dizdarevic, M. Balamurugan, Vincent Thamburaj,
and Ming Song and their colleagues to our growing online community
of international neurosurgeons. Our first international consultation
from the Ukraine was posted on 2/3/01.
Greg Foltz will serve on the Joint International Committee of the
Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of
Neurological Surgeons at their annual meetings in October 2001 and
April 2002.
