Physician Exchange Program
Each year, Neurosurgery International sponsors up to 15 young neurosurgeons
from developing countries who qualify for six to twelve week educational visits
to the Seattle Neuroscience Institute in Seattle, Washington or the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. Airfare, accommodation and living
expenses are paid for by the foundation. For more information contact

January 23- February 22, 2001: Dr. Andrij Myzak,
neurosurgeon from Lviv, the Ukraine, visited Seattle for six-weeks.
He attended conferences and participated in clinics and operations
at Harborview Medical Center, the University of Washington Hospital,
and Children's Hospital.
July 17-24, 2001: Dr. Fang-Xiang Chen, neurosurgeon
from Jiangsu Provincial Hospital in Nanjing, China, visited Seattle
where he presented a lecture on neurosurgery in China and his experimental
research in a rabbit model of SAH. Fang also enjoyed a weekend trip
to Vancouver to visit with friends and colleagues from Nanjing.
July 31-August 6, 2001: Dr. A. Vincent Thamburaj,
FRCS, consultant neurosurgeon from Apollo Hospital, Chennai (Madras)
India, visited Seattle where he presented a grand rounds lecture
on neurosurgery in India and his experience with craniovertebral
junction disease. Along with visiting the hospital and attending
conferences, Dr. Thamburaj enjoyed a dinner with the residents at
a restaraunt in downtown Seattle.
July 15-August 31, 2001: Dr. Mickhail Dmietriev,
neurosurgeon from Odessa and Kiev in the Ukraine, visited Wimbledon,
England where he received training from Mr. Henry Marsh and the
consultant staff at Atkinson Morley's Hospital.
